We are saddened by the news that ISP English teacher Patty Regnier passed away in November.
Below are a few thoughts from Christian Kaas (Class of 2005)
Though it's been nearly 20 years since Mrs. Regnier's IB English class, I still vividly remember afternoons spent in the old Chardin building, our tight-knit group passionately debating symbolism, allegory and character development. Her class remains one of the most intellectually and creatively rich periods of my life, for which I will always be grateful. I'm sure she would be amused to know I thought of her recently, when I found myself with an unexplainable urge to re-read The House of the Spirits. Turning these pages I hadn't seen again since Grade 11, I could just picture her seated at the front of the class - a well-worn copy of the book in her hands, exploding with dog ears and colorful page markers. I'm still unclear if the nostalgic impulse I felt was for Allende's world of magic realism, or for those Chardin days - magic in their own way. Her passing saddens me greatly.
Please feel free to add your memories of Patty.
